The Much anticipated Alfa MiTo

This week saw the much talked about Alfa Romeo MiTo world premier at the London motor show, taking centre stage with quite simply the most beautiful car ever built.

The 8c Competizione and MiTo were talk of the show attracting hordes of admirers and the MiTo was voted Number 1 must see in the coveted auto car motor show guide, and providing a motoring feast for the journalists.

Five engines have been confirmed for its launch - three petrol’s and two diesels. Entry level 1.4 engines produces 95bhp and there are two turbo charged versions of this new power plant producing 120 and a whopping 155bhp that’s not all the GTA version is scheduled for 2010 with a class topping 235bhp.

Diesels come in the way of a 1.3 turbo diesel producing 90bhp and a 1.6 version producing 120bhp with class leading CO2 emissions and fuel consumptions the five engine options allow flexibility to all prospective customers.

An all new feature Alfa Romeo DNA selector switch is fitted on all models changing the characteristics of the car for maximum driving pleasure and unlike most electrical driving aids this actually enhances performance rather that reduce it by intervening when you really do not need it. There are three settings to enhance driving conditions

Dynamic mode: Fun and Sporty

In Dynamic mode the engine torque curve changes, with the accelerator responding more quickly

VDC and ASR is less intrusive and the Q2 electronic limited slip diff is activated

Electric power steering alters to give sportier tuning

Standard braking control coordinated with ABS

Greater control of lateral acceleration

Over steer correction slight pressure through the steering wheel encourages drivers to steer in the correct direction

Faster Response engine

Normal Mode: Agility in the city

VDC and ASR settings are standard

Power steering setting is normal for easy town driving

As well as this the vehicle benefits from a euro cap safety rating of six stars making it the safest car in its class, LED rear lights and bixennon headlights make driving at night a pleasure. BOSE sound system is standard as is electric windows power steering and central locking.

Three trim levels are available Turismo (entry level) Lusso (mid level) and Veloce (Top Level) these are available in ten different colours with ten different interior options (subject to certain models)
